#12DaysofMindfulness Day 8

Updated: Mar 30, 2020

Before diving into Day 8, let's reflect a little bit about Dreaming Big.

If I'm going to be totally honest, my dream list is PRETTY large. Some often feel unattainable, but I'm approaching them differently than I have in the past. I always start off strong in mind but waiver as time passes and before long - self doubt, lack of confidence, and my overall mindset shifts (which always plays into my overall happiness).

This time as I approach some of these dreams, I'm going to keep myself ideally ahead of the curve. For instance, in the past, I wait until I'm injured to try to fix things. Yes there is the phrase, don't fix what isn't broken, but I'm talking about preventative measures. Example - my knee hasn't been awful, but last spring was really bad with pain. It got better because I eliminated running (which I love doing). So this winter I decided, let's get ahead of this - and now (Jan 26th after giving up on my first PT, went to a dear friend who's help has already made a difference and I've only seen her once!!!) This is a very adult move on my end for my body, self care, but also my career. In November, I decided to start running and do cross training again (not for my job, but for me and my mental head space). I tried cross training, then was told to change that as I was bulking, then I stopped and my body didn't change much except lose definition and I was losing myself a little so for my sanity - I started again and immediately could feel a difference. I signed up for the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler again and KNEW I'd need to be evaluated before I got too far in my training, and now here I am, actively making decisions to further all my passions.

I'm not going to specifically say what dreams I'm working towards because that's for me to know and accomplish. I think the photo from Day 7 post that really has always resonated with me is of the quote, "You can't have a million dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic."

And its true, so I'm planning to put in the time or even MAKE the time to do what I need to. Example, wake early to teach/practice, sacrifice TV or social time when I need to - to get a decent night's sleep . I need to meal prep for nutrition purposes but also for time purposes so I can enjoy my little time before bed. I need to sacrifice some social things for budgeting purposes so I can go to each masterclass I want or to put it towards my travel piggybank.

I am also just starting a bullet journal, it is very satisfying to do. Creatively speaking, it is a non-dance outlet for me. I used to be so involved with visual arts (painting, doodling, sketching, scrapbooking even) and I NEVER make the time anymore. But BUJO (bullet journal - learning fancy lingo over here) is an outlet for both my creativity but also my (unofficial) OCD ways. It gets me organized and allows me to change, notate, and do whatever I need it to do or be. Starting in Feb, I'm going to be tracking my habits, seeing which are stronger than others, where I lack control etc but ALSO to be an accountability partner as I fight for my dreams.. ALL OF THEM!

Day 8: Start Your Day(s) with a Big Glass if Water.

We saved this one just for today thinking some of you may need this little reminder amidst the hurt you might be feeling after ending 2018 with a BANG! 😉 Happy New Years!!!

Hope you all had a safe and wonderful time celebrating the New Year. I know I did, got to spend it with my love dancing our way into 2019 and at 2:30am with a very large glass of @nuunhydration and water. Thank goodness too because today might have been a LOT less pleasant without it. . Water is so key to our survival and our health. It regulates your body temperature, lubricates your joints. It transports nutrients that give you energy and perform at your highest and best. After all it does make up more than 50% of your body. Make sure to make hydration part of your every day but adding a glass of water to start your day, before meals and before bed!! .

Do you drink enough water? My goal is to have a glass of water first thing in the morning, before and after every meal, and before bed - IN ADDITION TO all the water I drink throughout rehearsal and my day in general. If you have other ways to incorporate water into your day, comment below to share with viewers!

Thursday I took my first ballet class in over two months. God it felt like being back in my body again. Except a really unhappy, uncomfortable, out of shape, exhausted body that didn’t quite remember
